It's still my problem. :-( I'm currently moving my music collection and experiencing a similar problem. The music is there (see pic) but the dodgy characters mean it's not seen. Fortunately Amarok has no trouble reading the weird characters. After years of avoiding learning character encoding and locales I may have to bite the bullet... Cheers -- Tuttle? His name's Buttle.
