Over cool, after month of writing, finally a real user report for the nubus
kernels :)

You're welcome... Sorry I didn't report before. At first i thought it was my own mistake that it didn't work. It never occurred to me that an official patch could be broken.

That's what I tried to say: There's no nubus-kernel higher than 2.4.27.
So I have to stick with 2.4.27? And recompiling is not possible because
the nubus patch is broken... :-(

Well, there is no 2.6.x kernel patch for nubus, at least none that i know
about. You could recompile it with 2.4.27-<whatever_was_in_sarge>, i can do it
too if you really need to, need to find some time for it though.

If you would... :-)

BTW, anyone with a nubus pmac going to Oldenbourg ?

Where is that anyway?
BTW... I got 2 nubus pmacs. Also a 9500/200 which is a dedicated GeneWeb server running on 2.2 with a testing distribution (necessary to run the latest version of GeneWeb). Anything higher (even 2.4.27) seems not to work at all.
Since the latest update of glibc6 showed a bug that one's not able to apt-get no more without errormessages... :-(

By the way... apt-get install kernel-image-2.4.27-nubus isn't gonna
work for me because I have to load Linux with the MkLinux bootloader
with the kernel present on a Mac partition... apt gives errors like
"could not find image (/boot/vmlinux-2.4.27-nubus)".

Oh, well, can you give me the full output ? This should not have happened.

Here it is...

Get:1 <ftp://ftp.nl.debian.org> testing/main kernel-image-2.4.27-nubus 2.4.27-10 [1813kB]

And yes, i know you need the MAch\ kernel, or whatever it is called, and this
is the one i produce, and indeed you need to move it to your mac partition and
do mklinux tricks on it, please try.

What can I try? I haven't got a working nubus kernel-tree... :-(
If i had one I already would have compiled myself one with MD support in it!

Ernest Demaret

P.S. You don't have to send me a mail. I read the list.
