Actually that is a *very* similar issue. Apps should be
window-manager-neutral as much as they should be init-system-neutral.
Imagine if suddenly all Gnome apps stopped working unless you were
running Metacity. It should not be up to window managers to implement
all the features that all apps use, it should be up to apps to only
depend on the common subset of features and to properly handle
situations when such features are not available.
