And I have faith that humans, either thru greed for power or just
plain dumbness, would have corrupted it.

For example: why are there 4 canon Gospels and not 3 or 5?  Not
because of deep and consistent prayer by the Church Fathers.  No.
It's because some French guy convinced everyone that there should be
4 because "there are four zones of the world in which we live, and
four principal winds" (Irenaeus, Against Heresies 3.11.8)

And then, of course, The Church went on an 1800 year love-fest with
Aristotle, which *really* screwed things up.
