Don's point was that I shouldn't be posting to this list but instead
actively work on resolving the problem. I think you've confirmed my
position that it's hard to change anything when not a DD.

I can think of several reasons. One might be that the frustration with the
process demotivated them afterall.

Another reason could be that the process itself is not interesting enough
to attract a sufficient number of developers. It might be a good idea to
actually change the process to draw more developers to it, or at least to
scare less off.

There have been ideas posted to this list in the past years. The process
hasn't changed. I had some ideas but they were regarded as not possible.

The process has to change. There's been a problem to get enough AM's for
ages, and nothing has changed. Just waiting until they will spontaneously
get here doesn't work.

I think Thomas' idea of making the NM process strictly a test, so not a
school, is a good one. Being strict on entry reduces effort for all.
Setting a clear limit makes the expectations concrete, for everyone
involved.
