I'd think at least one of them would crap out, since they can't both
control the same display...
It could just be that sawfish is slow. That's been my experience.
GNOME adds to that slowness... Not quite sure it's as slow as KDE 2, but
close. IceWM generally is more responsive under GNOME on slower/older
hardware.
