I was offline for two weeks with a small window in between where
I most probably missed something.

Option 5 doesn't delay implementation at all,

Finally option 5 is also a good idea and can be implemented inside the
packages - but the implementation to put them on the task list is needs
exactly the same effort as option 4. So regarding the subject of this
mail the implementation is very hard (which should be no argument to not
follow this path which sounds reasonable - but it is just a different
problem we are solving by this).

and allows later versions
of doc-base parsers to build any number of centralized reference indices
by aggregating the packages' reference files.

Is there a reason you didn't consider it? Do you think one of 1-4 is
better?

No, I just missed some mails. I think option 5 is fine but my comment
that it will be not make it soon onto the task web pages will remain.

Kind regards
