There is an option in defoma configuration asking you about x-tt or freetype backend. Also, there is probably a line sayingLoad "freetype" or xtt in the Module line in your XF86Config-4, do they match?
This was it. I had to run dpkg-reconfigure x-ttcidfonts-conf from the console and set the "backend" to freetype (matching my XF86Config-4). Now the "Gdk Warnings" have disappeared and I can input Japanese in Mozilla again. This is also something that should go into the Debian user-level Japanese HOWTO. Thanks! I am slowly getting there.. Am still wrestling with the fontlist and anti-aliasing in OpenOffice. It used to work but I messed it up while experimenting. Regards, Jan N.B. I liked the Mangosteen music! The one with the Showa Emperor's speech was very effective. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-japanese-request@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
