Re: Spam in the lists out of control

Let's summarize:

1) Rejecting all mail from "non-subscribers" is not an option.
2) People will cross-post and change their sender address, because they use individual aliases for individual lists
and use that to avoid or track spam.
3) People are not subscribed to every list out there at l.d.o.
4) Subscribing every alias you've got to whitelist@l.d.o is not trivial (what about one time adresses, like a
martin+f707d2e44d28a2ec962697368fa6bbd0@list-petersen.dk, that let's you track when and why you send the email and
where you got spam from + that you can block that one.

So why not reimplement whitelist@l.d.o. in a way, that if you use an alias, that not is on the whitelist, your email will
be hold, you'll get a email back to verify your identity and automatically get added to the whitelist.
This tool also should be aware of "+" as delimiter and ignoring everything between "+" and "@", thus enabling all one time
or special cases once for all for all l.d.o lists.

This should be very trivial to implement and would bring spam down to a minimum.

Sorry if the idea has been brought up allready, i didn't follow the whole thread.

Kind regards,
