I'm willing to package fortunes-debian, at the very least, if nobody else
has already grabbed it (though I agree that actually packaging it should
probably wait until we have more than 5 hints).

I think the default greetings might want for more discussion, though I
personally like the idea, but simply having the hints available as a
fortune DB seems like an astoundingly good idea to me (and, FWIW, a lot of
folks get a new fortune on every login shell on some OSes - FreeBSD, for
example - and I think one of the hints should be how to turn it off, or
change it to a 'normal' fortune DB).
