The 2.4.27 kernel you provided does not have matching modules in the disk
image. Do you still have the modules somewhere?
Another nitpick - the tap interface seems to be deprecated and may need to
be replaced by a tun style interface. I've only just fetched the necessary
files to patch a stock Linux kernel so I dont know how hard this might be
to implement.
