I also think it makes sense to document synaptic. But, we don't
consistently install any particular GUI package manager any more. GNOME
stopped shipping synaptic by default (#1079595). GNOME flashback, LXDE,
LXQT, XFCE, Cinnamon and MATE still do.
I can't see that task-kde-desktop installs any GUI package manager, but
I'm not too familiar with the KDE applications and may have missed one.
This is a problem to solve IMHO, but not a Wiki problem.

will appreciate the interface niceties)

2. What are all these dependencies about?
For this (and later headings) I'd be inclined to link elsewhere, and
keep the page laser-focussed.
* [[AptProtocol]] is supported by Ubuntu, but not Debian
(do we know why it's not supported? It would make this whole problem go away)
I'm not sure, and it's a shame AptProtocol doesn't tell us more!
Would you be interested in adding a page like that to the current
wiki?
If not, I'll have a go at some point.
Certainly. I'm amazed a suitable page doesn't already exist, but it
doesn't. The non-wiki Debian FAQ and Debian Reference also seem to miss
the need for a simple answer to this basic question, so there's a gap to
fill.
I've started https://wiki.debian.org/HowToInstallPackages
