HowToInstallPackages (was Re: aims of the wiki?)

I also think it makes sense to document synaptic. But, we don't consistently install any particular GUI package manager any more. GNOME stopped shipping synaptic by default (#1079595). GNOME flashback, LXDE, LXQT, XFCE, Cinnamon and MATE still do.

I can't see that task-kde-desktop installs any GUI package manager, but I'm not too familiar with the KDE applications and may have missed one.

This is a problem to solve IMHO, but not a Wiki problem.

Further, Synaptic behaves poorly under Wayland, which is nowadays also a relevant factor: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=818366#80

Ouch.
