I've used mupdf, but not for PDFs. Is it configurable at all?

$ man mupdf | grep conf
$ 

Having no continuous scroll is fatal. So is not showing the entire
first page by default.

I'm aware of that, but after making my suggestion, the OP's responses
were misleading to anyone thinking about using xpdf.
