It should now be seen and be capable of being used by other Linux
machines (running CUPS) and Macs.

I assume 'workgroup' has something to do with Windows machines and
Samba. I know nothing about either.

Both look fine.

I intended you to type '/usr/lib/cups/backend/usb' and press ENTER.
The output isn't needed now you have printing working.
