Why not check this out?  See if there is some helpful info there.
Incidentally, the latest version of the nVidia drivers are 6629.
I would get those.  The packages are in Sid.


I'm trying to check it out further. The problem is that I can't find anything in the syslog, XFree86 logs or xsession-errors to indicate any problems with the X Window.

Unfortunately I have one workstation and when the GUI goes out it's a little hard to get to my email.

I've always been using the Vanilla versions from NVidia. I didn't know there was anything available under Debian. A little more searching shows theres a number of packages to choose from, but they all appear to be for the 2.4 kernel. For the 2.6 kernel, can you show me which packages I would use?

My guess would be
nvidia-kernel-common
nvidia-glx
nvidia-kernel-source
as a minimum.
