You can hav different backdrops on different screens with fvwm2 by
adding something like the following to your .fvwm2rc file.  This
version is for four "windows" (if you'll pardon the expression.)

*FvwmBacker: Command (Desk 0, Page 1 0) Exec fvwm-root ~/pix/statues_in_sky.xpm
