I thought the people in places like Central+South America, Arabia,
Iran, Indonesia, etc didn't like us because our multi-nationals
came in and oppressed the peasantry, with the support of the CIA.
I thought places like France didn't like us because they're un-
grateful bastards who still think they're a super-power.
And then there's the political "far left", and pseudo-radicals
in all countries who believed that the inevitable tide of history
was ebbing for Marxism.
Of course, the fact that we gt a superiority complex after WW2
didn't (and doesn't) help.
As for "wanting the rest of the world organised for your benefit",
no not really. We thought (and still do think), that our way is
the best (though still imperfect) way to impart the blessings of
Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness to all on the planet.
Thus, the more naive US citizens think that "everyone else" acts
like us, thinks like us, and has the same laws, and theories of
laws as we do.
