That's humans' fault for genetically engineering them by selective
breeding. The wild rock dove, from which common pigeons are descended,
is a shy and quiet bird.

?? You must have an unusually sensitive nose then, I can't smell a
pigeon sitting on my windowsill... OTOH if I bury my nose in a
pigeon's plumage and inhale I think the smell is great.

Actually, they don't. There may be droppings all around the nest from
the general habitation of many pigeons in that space, but the nest
itself is kept clean. The chicks hoist their arse over the boundary of
the nest to drop one, and the adults save it up while they are sitting
on the nest, then when the other bird arrives to take over they go and
drop one the size of a goose turd, well away from the nest. The adults
also clear up if the chicks don't quite keep themselves clean. There
is never any shit congealed onto the chicks' feathers.

(If you think pigeons' roosts are bad, try a bat cave...)

Good job you haven't got a gun then...

Excellent. Try studying pigeons... set up a video camera to watch a
nest, or something. Hand-rearing chicks is very rewarding.
