Sorry, I'm not familiar with how things work in stable. I was speaking
about testing/unstable, in which sawfish-gnome isn't a functional
package.

You mean "sawfish or gnome"? Assuming you're running stable I doubt
it's a bug. More likely something in your configuration has caused a
problem. Try creating a new, temporary, user account with no
customization of sawfish or gnome and see what happens.

Hopefully someone more familiar with Gnome 1 and the associated
sawfish can help here. Please post version numbers and tell us what
distribution of Debian you're running.
