xforwarding anything over a 56k connection is dog-slow ... I even get
impatient xforwarding things over a cable modem. :-)

I've heard good things about centericq and screen but I've never used
them. I use Windowmaker for my desktop and use either gaim or
everybuddy for my chat client. I use gaim most of the time because they
seem to be keeping up better with the way Yahoo has been futzing around
with their protocol lately, although, aesthetically everybuddy does have
a cleaner appearance. All I can recommend is try as many as you want
and find one you like. Heck it's not like they aren't free ...

Best regards,
