Turns out there  is a bug where if xine  doesn't shutdown properly, it
doesn't return the shared memory. Rebooting helped, perhaps restarting
X would have as well.

Turns out it works if I do a 'xine -A oss' (a lucky guess).

I might try that as well. I'm subscribed to the xine list now, so I'll
likely take further questions there..
