For the case of libc6, is it just a case of changing:

	echo "BUILD_CFLAGS = -O2"	  >> $(objdir)/configparms

to

	echo "BUILD_CFLAGS = -O2 -mv8"	  >> $(objdir)/configparms

in debian/rules?  Or is there more do it?

I don't suppose you have these v8-optimised packages sitting in an
apt-able repository somewhere?
