Another possibility is that tex-live may be in "etch" in which case "pdfscreen" as part of tex-live will also presumably in "etch". Tentatively, I may offer to take over the this package since it seems to (currently) require very little work to maintain. This decision is pending what response I get from CVR so don't get your hopes up yet:) Also note that I am not a DD so the package will only make it into "etch" if I find a sponsor.
