Well, I have an iBook 2 with 600MHz and it surely has problems playing
back DVDs under Linux.

If I remember correctly, under MacOS X, I got good playback, but I found
no way of turning on the deinterlacing of the images.

Under Linux, the problem is that the DVD decoder of the video card isn't
used for lack of documentation and, as a consequence, everything has to
be done by the CPU.

One of the things that I remember that helped a tiny bit when I was
toying with DVDs and my iBook was that enabling DRI turned on the DMA
transfers of the video card (in my case a Rage Mobility 128 -- yours
should be faster than mine).

I also wrote a shitty linear blend deinterlacer for xine in C, but the
best would be to have something written in Assembly.
