Various people, including timbuk2 do sleeves for laptops. The timbuk2
one I have is pretty well padded except for the top where you slot the
laptop in and if it lasts as well as their courier bags you should be
fine.

I can also recommend deuter rucksacks as mentioned elsewhere in the
thread.
