Try 'chroot /target modprobe hfsplus', or locate the module in
/target/lib/modules and use insmod to load it.  Both only work if the
kernel you installed is the one that you used for booting the
installation system, of course.

No, that's because HFS and HFS+ partitions get the same entry in the
partition table, namely Apple_HFS.
