Bug#260333: PowerMac G3 (beige) installing kernel-image_powerpc_2.6.7-3 on sarge

What makes you think you need the files on the workstation?  Your Mac
OS partition is on the same disk as the Linux partition, isn't it?

If that is the case, you need to press Alt+F2 in the installer to
reach a shell prompt.  Your new installation is still mounted under
/target, and you can manually mount the Mac OS partition.  Make sure
you specify the correct filesystem type; HFS+ partitions have an HFS
wrapper that a plain 'mount <device> <mountpoint>' command might pick
up first, if that happens use 'mount -t hfsplus <device>
<mountpoint>'.  Locate the "Linux Kernels" folder and copy vmlinux and
initrd.img from your new installation over there.

That's essentially how I installed on a beige G3 lately.
