What I intend to do is to upload Groovy 2.1.6 to experimental very soon, test all the reverse dependencies there and file bugs (if needed) on incompatible packages. Please take into account groovy 1.8.6 is already very outdated and I was not satisfied with releasing "wheezy" with that version so I want to fix this situation soon. I would like to avoid having packages in the archive like groovy1.7.2 (ugh) as well. I'll let you know what I find. Thanks for the interest in groovy.
