After some more investigation, it looks like libXrandr broke source
compatibility between 4.2 and 4.3 (XRRSetScreenConfig dropped a
parameter), nasty. It might be possible to make it build against both
versions, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort.

I failed to mention that libxrender-dev was missing before.
