My experience is that the sort of users you seem to be worried about
will not read an explanation ahead of time, docs after the fact, or the
output on their screen.  That being said, if it is really so confusing
that we have to long discussions about what a hypothetical user might
think of this new 'confusing' message, wouldn't it be best to just not
output anything at all?  It's not as though we output status messages
for each maintainer script.
