Spammers are only the bottom-most layer, but it's the same pile.

(I'd quote a proverb about how small things lead to big things, but I can't
currently think of any of those in English. :)

You started the subthread by saying the rules are archaic and irrelevant;
whether the "law-abiding" people get used to other people breaking the
"laws" or not is not the real issue -- that's a reality. But in principle,
rejecting these laws based on the number of offenders, discarding the other
realities such as the fact there's no official legislation enforcing them,
doesn't strike me as particularly logical.
