re command line tools

The imagemagick tools are super.  Still, be carefull calling them "command
line tools" without testing first.  We've run into permissions issues with 
xserver even with a console, command line prompt.  That was problematic
with scripted, batch input.  This was not just for displaying directories,
though, we were generating images.
