Dear all,

This is a collation of several posts, with comments as approriate.

 This is my position:

I will not downgrade the package, I will only accept improvements to it.
The manpage needs fixes? They will be done by the next Debian release (2.1).
I'm open to *any* improvement to the package. Do you think that the layout
of the manpage should be different? Different sections?

There's no way I will remove the manpage. If someone else at Debian think
that thinks should be done differently, speak now.

Yes I do think things should be done differently. Hrvoje has made it quite
clear that he thinks that the manpage should be re-written to be based on
the -help output. Various people (including myself) have offered to, if
given the --help output (I don't use wget myself), to pretty it up and
re-organise it a little, so that you could turn it into a new manpage.
Hrvoje wrote the package, which is a lot of work indeed. Is it too much to
ask for you to be a little considerate? The next debian release will be
hamm. I think you should upgrade the manpage (as requested) asap.

Ha ha ha!

Well, good luck with "improving" Wget, especially by stealing others'
works and using them against their will. It is only a shame that my
name is still present on your "improved" product.

I will keep hoping your attitude is not shared by other Debian
developers.

It's not shared by most of us, fortunately.

nor indeed by at least some of the users. I really think Nicholas is going
against nearly everyone's wishes here, though perhaps one of the project
leaders should make their views known...
