Sure, but it is better if this is done by a German speaking person.
One has to write a cron job to retrieve
http://people.debian.org/~barbier/d-i/l10n/de/STATUS.utf8.txt
and mail it to debian-l10n-german. This is exactly what I do for
French translations, nothing more.
