I think the main point being more that it should continue to be
mentioned in the HOWTO, not removed from it as was suggested.

For one thing, if it's removed from the HOWTO we'll start seeing more
questions like "What's this gcc-4.0 archive people are talking about?"

I agree that it doesn't need to be labeled with such a dire warning:
Saint Andreas has done much fine work.  OTOH, it should be made clear
that if you report a bug and you're using gcc-4.0, the first thing
you'll be asked is whether you can reproduce it in pure64.
