You had me worried there. Hotplugging doesn't work because HID devices are
registered only after being probed at boot (unlike MacOS).
The ADB protocol can't resolve device ID conflicts without going through a
probe process. Thus hotplugging won't work in MacOS either (unless all the
bus IDs happen to be unique and the right handlers are already registered)
and so Apple always advised against it.
