Hi Laura,

I am working in Debian mostly as a translator for the Italian team. My work on the webpages (even translations) has been very minor so far.

already created a salsa guest account. But I am not sure about the next
steps e.g. does the sponsored maintainer concept apply in this case?

Fork the webwml repo in your salsa account:
1.- Login in salsa.debian.org
2.- Go to https://salsa.debian.org/webmaster-team/webwml/
3.- Press "Fork"

Then you can clone your fork in local, create a branch, solve the bug,
push your branch, and create a merge request in Salsa.
Then mail to 898258@bugs.debian.org explaining your proposal and linking
to the merge request you submitted.

The web team members will review your work and hopefully merge it and
then it will be deployed automatically in www.debian.org after some hours.

I too have an account on Salsa. Would this procedure (with another bug number of course) be OK too for translations? I imagine mostly corrections or minor work, at least at the moment.

For translations we usually don't create bug reports, but the procedure would work, yes (ideally other person from the translation team can ACK that the translation is ok language-wise and then we would merge, but for small teams this may be difficult, so if the translation builds and you cannot find proofreader, explain in the MR and we would merge).

In your case (a long time member of the Italian translation team), I've just added you as member to the webwml repo, so now you can submit merge requests, but also commit directly if you feel confident in your work.

We have another Italian translator working in the website, Luca Monducci (mondo-guest in Salsa). You may want to coordinate using the debian-l10n-italian list or comments in the Salsa merge requests for proofreads, to avoid working in the same files, etc.

Kind regards
