My next-door neighbor is fed from the next pole along on the
same overhead line.

The wifi is for mobile devices, of course. Phones, tablets,
laptops. If they want to talk to the house servers, they need
to use SSH or a VPN to get in, or have the same minimal access
that the rest of the Internet has to defined services.
