Ubuntu is not Debian [was: Re: Debian 7 and external monitors and graphics adaptors]

Since joining this list, i have been quite startled by how many 
questions get asked here about issues with /Ubuntu/ setups, on the 
seeming assumption that Ubuntu is merely Debian with a different 
coat of paint. Facetiously, i've begun to wonder whether non- and 
new-subscribers should be asked to confirm in writing that they 
understand that questions about Ubuntu setups should first and 
foremost be directed to Ubuntu fora. ;-)

(i'm even more startled that RedHat-related questions occasionally 
get asked here. At least Ubuntu is Debian-/based/ ....)
