JFTR my first post was "Are you sure that it is installed to replace
init? Perhaps systemd isn't used, but needed as a hard dependency?
[...]" and I guess it's solved since seemingly gnome-settings-daemon is
the culprit. So IMO this discussion is ok, but moving it to off-topic
IMO is still useful.
