Don't know, if these are already mentionened. There are Datadisks called 
"worms" (this is what they are called here in Germany). They need a special 
drive. The advantage is, that those worms are guaranteed by the manufacturer 
to do not loose data for 20 years. 

Worms look like DVD's, its capacity is about 10GB. Those are used by some 
German government to store important data like plans of houses or other 
documents.
