Oh yes.  That is why there are so many different programs (or suites of

One of the first things I do when installing any system is to replace
the default theme.  I was quite upset to find that Debian Etch uses
overrides to make it more difficult for people to do this, at least with
KDE.

Its a simple fix to disable the override if you know where to look, but
it's not real obvious, and new users will struggle if they encounter the
message that pops up when one tries to change the theme.

Needless to say, the user should be the one that decides what the system
should look like, but there does need to be nice looking artwork for the
default because many users never bother changing the settings, they just
want to use the computer, not customize it.
