Not likely: gdm comes up just fine, and as far as I know, gdm
uses X.
Anyway, I did nothing to the problem for two days, and today it icewm came
up just fine. So posting a log isn't likely to be very informative
any more. In the meantime, while doing nothing to address the problem,
I *did* use another sarge system I had lurking in another partition just
in case. Different / partition, but shared /home. Could it be that
the window manager configuration fixed itself because I used it in the
other sarge's X?
