Before doing anything, check if you have a version2 or a version3 of the card.
It sure bit me after I tried to get the best supported card for linux.

They can be distinguished because the version2 says "Made in Taiwan"
and version3 says "Made in China" on the back.

Version3 isn't supported with prism54, check out the forums on www.prism54.org for
more information on that.

Version 3 can be made to run using ndiswrapper, but unfortunately will taint your kernel. 

once it is running iwconfig is the program to use to setup your card.
