Yup, but there are plenty of other packages which are arch-specific in
debian, and i386 has the highest user-base by far. I am fully
supportive and appreciative of debian's goal for support across the
archs, however it seems the lowest-common-denominator approach is
perhaps too heavy handed in some cases.

Lack of other arch support could merely be considered bugs for fixing later.
