Right..  I was wrong on that.  I originally installed Exim4 from Steve
Haslam's packages.  I cannot remember if that package removed exim 3
or not.  It may have, because IIRC ( and not sure), the executable there
seemed to be exim and its configs went into /etc/exim (I _think_),

Yes.  It would appear though, that, since it did remove the old exim,
and it was not intended for them to co-exist, that they would have
simply used the  old defaults.  I had thought about purging the old exim
to clean up my system, but am afraid that there _might_ be some overlap
and I might remove something that exim4 needs.  Oh, well.. it's just a
few files anway...
