I have successfully used the Testing netinstall.iso that is being 
developed. It is in the testing phase but worked here, and it uses a 
2.4.2x kernel.\

http://www.debian.org/CD/netinst/. The link to the Testing netinstall 
cd's seems broken though.

Or a Knoppix cd.
