I've been following the thread with interest. While not the nearest
repository, I appended the above lines to my /etc/apt/sources.list and
as root ran: # aptitutde update. I get the errors:

W: Couldn't stat source package list http://http.us.debian.org
unstable/main Packages
(/var/lib/apt/lists/http.us.debian.org_debian_dists_unstable_main_binary-i386_Packages)
- stat (2 No such file or directory)
...
Haynes, you have the answer right in front of you - you made a mistake in the line you wrotte
in your sources.list .
I think it's better to select the lines indicated above, copy them and paste them in you souces.list
file .That way you won't make a mistake .
