Why wouldn't you just define it to be the way you wanted it? Now, this may
have pointed out that there are applications out there inappropriately
and/or incompletely specifying the fonts they want, but it's your box, and
you should change it however you like.

It's not a bug. You could, in fact, take the position that the OLD way was
a bug, because it did not comply with the wishes of upstream.
